Budding Young Chefs Get a Taste of the Industry

Budding young chefs got a taste of the hospitality industry with a visit to one of Leeds’ leading restaurants.
The 12-16-years old, who have been studying cookery at Leeds City College’s Junior Chefs’ Academy, paid a special visit to the Piazza by Anthony’s on Saturday (July 2nd) as a grand finale to their course. During their studies, which have spanned 30 weeks, the students have spent Saturday mornings cooking up a wide range of dishes to help hone their skills.
The group of 24 budding young chefs, who were accompanied by tutors from the College’s Thomas Danby Campus, sat down to brunch in the Corn Exchange restaurant before being given a guided tour of the restaurant, kitchens and accompanying bakery, patisserie, chocolaterie and fromagerie by head chef Anthony Flinn Junior. They also had the chance to chat to kitchen and front of house staff about working in the industry.
“This generous gesture from Anthony Flinn was a great way for these young chefs to finish off their studies and they all really enjoyed the visit,” said Leeds City College tutor Scott Masey.
