Butchery Course Meats Industry Needs
Leeds City College has received official recognition from the industry for its butchery training provision.
The College was named as the winner of the Training Scheme of the Year for its Meat Training Council (MTC) NVQ Level 2 in Butchery Retail Skills at the Meat Management Industry Awards 2011 held this month (June 2011).
Head of Faculty Gordon Sibbald and Programme Leader Chris Moorby attended the prestigious black tie dinner held at The Royal Garden Hotel in London to accept the award on behalf of the College from former England football legend and television presenter Jimmy Greaves.
“This is an outstanding achievement for the butchery academy at Leeds City College and gives recognition to our dedicated team who continue to strive for excellence,” Gordon said.
“As one of the few remaining FE colleges delivering such a wide range of skills training across the UK, we are aware of our responsibilities to both the industry and our students to maintain the high quality standards that have been delivered by us for the past 50 years,” he added.
Last year Leeds City College was runner-up in the same category in the awards.
